Why leave a gift to a charity?
Everyone wants to leave the world a better place. Including a charity in your Will allows you to do just that, ensuring your life will give lasting meaning to others. It ’s a very popular choice for many people wanting to make a donation to their favourite causes, that otherwise may not have been able to do so.
Supporting charities like Feros Care means we can make a real difference in the world on your behalf, helping those who are suffering or vulnerable to live happier, healthier, more connected lives.
It’s a very simple process. You don’t need to be wealthy - even a small gift from your estate can transform lives, so that we can end the devastating loneliness suffered by thousands of Australians.
What a powerful legacy that is.
Be Someone For Someone through your legacy
Be Someone For Someone is a charitable initiative founded by Feros Care to tackle the growing epidemic of loneliness and its life threatening effects. Our impactful, 21st century programs create joyful opportunities for those suffering alone to reconnect with their community and access the tools and resources needed to enjoy meaningful friendships. But there is so much work still to be done.
We don’t think anyone should be lonely and we’re sure you’ll agree. You may have experienced loneliness yourself or witnessed how it imprisons others. Or you may just share our passion for a more connected world and our vision for a future without loneliness.
Either way a gift from your estate means that we can help others out of devastating isolation. With your gift, we’ll be tackling loneliness, together.
Where does your gift go?
The power of your legacy means that more lonely and isolated people will enjoy vital companionship and connections. More people will feel valued and be able to give value to others, like they belong again.
Why? Because your gift will allow us to continue our work, raising awareness of the issue of loneliness, activating the innate social skills of caring and connecting inside us all and expanding our programs to reach more people; helping those that need it most.
How to leave a gift in your will
Including Feros Care in your Will is very simple. Just follow these simple steps:
Step One Include family and loved ones in your decision
Having an up-to-date Will ensures that your estate is given to the people and causes you care about the most.
It is important to talk to the important people in your life about your decision to leave a gift in your Will to Feros Care. This may include loved ones, friends and the Executor of your Will. This is to help them understand and support your decision.

Step two Decide on the bequest you would like to give to Feros Care
There are several options you can choose from. Most people like to nominate a gift of a specific dollar amount (Pecuniary or Specific Sum).
You can also consider a residuary gift, leaving the balance of your estate (the residue) after you have made provisions for your loved ones, or a percentage gift where you decide what proportion of your estate you’d like to leave.
Pecuniary or specific sum
A pecuniary or specific sum is where you nominate a gift of a specific dollar amount.
Residuary
A residuary gift is means leaving the balance of your estate (the residue) after you have made provisions for your loved ones.
Percentage
A percentage gift asks you to decide what proportion of your estate you’d like to leave.
Step three Advise your legal representative or solicitor of your gift in writing
Once you have decided the type of gift you would like to make, it’s time to have it written into your Will. You may choose to do this by advising a professional such as your solicitor, or Public Trustee, who will do this for you. The following is an example of commonly used wording to include in your Will or as a Codicil to your Will:
I give to Feros Care ABN 50 104 452 271, to be applied for the purpose of supporting vulnerable people in the community and/or activities that tackle loneliness (OR a specific purpose to be stated)
A. the sum of (specified sum) OR
B. the residue of my estate OR
C. (specified percentage) of my estate/residuary estate
free of all duties and taxes and the receipt of the Chief Executive Officer or other authorised officer for the time being shall be a complete and sufficient discharge for the executor(s).
